Moonfire on the Bridge of Fire

 Before I can tell you what the Bridge of Fire is, I must tell you how it came to be.
I have thought long and hard about coming up with a gentle and poetic way to craft these words,
but there are no such words…..only the harsh reality.

On February 13, 2008 at approximately 3PM, my son and only child chose to end his life by sacrificing his body to waters beneath the Golden Gate Bridge and releasing spirit to Creation.

Since that day, I have been caught in a vortex called the Bridge of Fire. It is a combination of grief, spiritual enlightenment, heightened awareness, great pain, and so much more. Most of all, it is a place high above the madness of it all that allows me to see beyond myself. There is so much to tell about the last 8 months of my life and the last two years of his life. I will get to those stories, but for now I am concentrating on the bridge because I am being held mid span by some incredible force that is neither good nor evil. It is the pure white fire light of Creation pulsing through my entire being and existence. It has become my purpose. It is the recognition that I am just a conduit and I can transfer as much energy as I will allow. It’s kind of like I’ve had open soul surgery. I am surviving and I am in recovery and the medicine that is slowly dripping into my veins is the Bridge of Fire. In that medicine is the solution.

Out of the ashes of my son’s life a vision is being manifested, and that vision is of the Bridge of Fire on the playa at Burningman 2009, and the installation of Prayer Fire Blossums on Baker Beach and beyond. These endeavors are a way for me to make sense out of something that has no worldly logic, and it gives me a reason to keep moving forward. In every way, my son shaped my life. He made me a better person. He was my hero and now, to honor all that he gave to me in his 36 years, I will strive to give back to the world in whatever  way I can. He chose his ending and offered me a new life, but to get to that life I have to walk across the Bridge of Fire.
